New Moon in Gemini: Peace Offering

A New Moon Peace Offering

This month’s new moon is in Gemini , and occurs on 6th June 2024 at 1.38pm UK time. And t looks like a lively, bubbly, effervescent affair, as new moons go!  We have a triple alignment in today’s chart, with Venus forming an exact conjunction with the Sun and Moon in the same degree (16˚ of Gemini).  This suggests the seeding, or re-seeding of a dialogue, or flow of communication motivated by a desire for love, peace, harmony and the recognition of how we are related, one to another.  However, we are engaged with others, whether as friends, lovers, family members or with our spirit guides, this type of energy will tend to facilitate a good-humoured exchange, light and friendly, even flirtatious.

Saturn’s Karmic Bind

There is a caution with this, however, as each of these three planets is making an applying square to Saturn (2˚ orb).  We could, for example, flutter casually and easily into connection with someone under such an aspect, and then find that there is a more serious dimension to it, a more binding, karmic quality to the connection.  And while there is often an easy, harmonious, or playful flow to conversation under a Sun-Moon-Venus conjunction, it can also be tricksy. There is a need to mind the boundaries, and check one’s integrity in relation to it, as it is actually Saturn that has been preparing the ground for this type of exchange to occur.  Being aware of this will help with the seemingly inevitable reality check that may follow!   Anyone who has the Sun, Moon, personal planet or angle (AC, MC, DC or IC) close to this degree of Gemini (or one of the other mutable signs: Virgo, Sag or Pisces), might tend to experience such dynamics more acutely, and generally feel the energy of this new moon particularly strongly.

Trading Words & Ideas with the Trickster

We also find Mercury (Gemini’s ruling planet) in its own sign, separating from a conjunction with Jupiter in Gemini.  There is a lot of communication going on right now, so much that wants to be spoken and so many ideas that want to be shared.  Gemini and Mercury rule the nervous system in astrology, and their energy carries a highly responsive current in the psyche.  It is akin to an electrical charge that awakens and excites our minds to ideas and concepts that promise to make sense of our experience. As a trickster, Mercury is out to persuade and convince us that this or that idea is right or true. Yet by the time we settle on the truth of an idea, the sprite-like God has already moved on to something new, and like the devil's advocate, he will then trade against it. Unless we are quick and agile, we are left debating the rights and wrongs of situations that have lost their currency. How pertinent this is in our post-truth era, when it is so difficult to know what to believe or who to trust, with politicians, media figures, marketers, and the like, trading both sides against the middle in order to stay one step ahead of the curve. Elections are coming, and our corrupt politicians are using every trick in the book to try and convince us that they have our best interests at heart!

Finding a Better Story to Tell

This new moon carries the seed energy of our intentions articulated in language, so we should be especially mindful of the thought seeds we are scattering to the winds at this time. If they find fertile ground and are robust enough to germinate, then they may take root and come to define our experience of reality. As the medicine of perception, Gemini reminds us that it is not ultimately the circumstances of our lives that determine our experience, but rather our perspective upon them, and the stories we tell about them. Perhaps we can seize this moment to look at life in a different way, open to a more diverse range of perspectives, find a different or a better story to tell, notice where we might get trapped in a particular prejudice or perspective. We can use our words creatively and imaginatively to inspire new possibilities and perspectives.

Mercury, Gemini's ruler, blesses us with the art of rhetoric, and as much as the tricksy power-seeking politician will use that to influence our opinions, and manipulate our allegiances, so will the poet employ the art to illuminate an unseen dimension of reality, and a mythologist to re-awaken the sleeping parts of the psyche.

Let us engage with language that inspires and evokes the highest possibilities for peace and understanding this month, and may we choose our words well

My Gemini mantra runs: “I am a conduit for the voice of my spirit twin, and I am here to be a channel of their light.”

New moon blessings to all.

The Glastonbury Zodiac Milky Way Pilgrimage (6-8 Sept)

A few places still available on my Glastonbury Zodiac Milky Way Pilgrimage, a 26-mile walk over 2 days, following the Milky Way path as it arches its way across Glastonbury's landscape 'temple of the stars'.

This is a unique two-day pilgrimage following the Milky Way path across the Glastonbury Zodiac.  This pilgrimage route, which runs from Lamyatt Beacon (near Bruton) to High Ham (near Langport).  It follows the Milky Way path as it maps from the night sky onto the landscape of the Glastonbury Zodiac, and was originally discovered by Anthony Thorley & Celia Gunn.  John has been leading the pilgrimage since 2014.

The pilgrimage involves two days of walking, and we will have a 2-night camp set up at Avalon Permaculture Gardens in Butleigh, gathering there on Fri 1st Sept where we will prepare ourselves for the walk and share delicious food together before taking transport to the start of the walk on Saturday morning.  Our camp is at the halfway point of the route, so we will arrive early evening on Saturday to be met with dinner and will share stories around the campfire!
