New Moon in Taurus: Radical Humanness

We have a new moon in in the sensuous earth sign of Taurus today, a day for us to sow the seed of intention for the month, guided by the medicine of the Bull, with its promise of bounty and fecundity.  Taurus reminds us to slow down, to stay connected to our bodily rhythms, and to the good earth that nourishes us, to stay present to what is, and to take our time to enjoy the pleasures of this beautiful, bounteous season, where the increase of light supports nature's growth. There is a supportive sextile aspect from Saturn, which can help to ground and mature our intentions, while an applying conjunction to Uranus could signal some unexpected developments this month, which might be unsettling, so as we set our intention, it is wise to factor this in, connect to our radical humanness, and be open for surprises!

A Taurus new moon connects us to a slower rhythm and seeks to impart to us the goodness of life, that we might engage in good faith with the first fruits of the season and to drop deeper into the sensuous, embodied dimension of life.   Venus-ruled Taurus is the sign of earthy beauty and fecundity, and this new moon is a potent time to seed our intention to live in harmony with our surroundings, to recognise all the blessings we have around us, and the gifts we have been given. So here we have the medicine of gratitude, the practice of appreciating what we have, while we have it, and allow that feeling to sink deep into our being, relaxing our nervous system and nourishing our soul.

Let us consider then, the unsettling presence of Uranus in today's new moon chart, as it picks up a theme that we have been contesting with for the past six years, while Uranus has been transiting through Taurus.  We live in very uncertain times, which are highly Uranian in nature; AI-driven and futuristic.  We are living in the shadow of the machine, and it seems we are forever being persuaded to over-ride our embodied connection with the world, and the values that instils, and replace it with more technologically oriented knowledge and values, perceived through an ever-more screen-mediated existence.  The transit of Uranus through the sign of Taurus, since 2018 has seen this accelerate at an incredible rate, making us more tech-dependent, and consistently undermining our trust in our sense perception, and in the aspects of life that ground us in our bodies.

Taurus is all about common sense, and this gets dramatically eroded the more reliant we become on systems of abstract, artificial intelligence.  Uranus is a planet we associate with the Promethean qualities of innovation, freedom, human rights and progress, which can liberate us from oppression. However a consequence of paradigm-busting Uranianism, for whom evolutionary progress is the primary goal, is the ever closer alignment between the human being and the machine, which threatens the integrity of the soul.

So over this new moon, which promises to deliver a more radical perspective on the way forward, particularly when it comes to Taurean themes such as food, money, pleasure and the enjoyment of nature, let us not succomb to the tech solution, but remember the radical nature of our own humanness.  Uranus is a rebel, and we can channel that rebellious side of our nature into projects that return us to simple human values that honour, respect and nourish the earth, the body, the cycles of the seasons, the integral connection between the human soul and the land.   We have just experience the luscious festival of Beltane, which marks the mid-point of Taurus, a sensuous feast of fecundity and merriment that reminds us that our hearts and minds are tied to the seasonal round, and that as the light increases in our world, so it opens us up the possibility of greater insight into the natural abundance which is always present, and doesn't need mediating by unnecessary technological interference.

So let us set our intentions this month in a spirit of celebration and gratitude for our embodied intellignence that can still tell the difference between what is real and what is false.

My Taurus mantra runs: “I am fully embodied here, delighting in the illuminated sensuality of this moment."

New moon blessings to all.

The Glastonbury Zodiac Milky Way Pilgrimage (6-8 Sept)

I still have a few places available on my Glastonbury Zodiac Milky Way Pilgrimage, a 26-mile walk over 2 days, following the Milky Way path as it arches its way across Glastonbury's landscape 'temple of the stars'.

This is a unique two-day pilgrimage following the Milky Way path across the Glastonbury Zodiac.  This pilgrimage route, which runs from Lamyatt Beacon (near Bruton) to High Ham (near Langport).  It follows the Milky Way path as it maps from the night sky onto the landscape of the Glastonbury Zodiac, and was originally discovered by Anthony Thorley & Celia Gunn.  John has been leading the pilgrimage since 2014.

The pilgrimage involves two days of walking, and we will have a 2-night camp set up at Avalon Permaculture Gardens in Butleigh, gathering there on Fri 1st Sept where we will prepare ourselves for the walk and share delicious food together before taking transport to the start of the walk on Saturday morning.  Our camp is at the halfway point of the route, so we will arrive early evening on Saturday to be met with dinner and will share stories around the campfire!
